Ingredients
450g (1 lb) ground beef (15% fat)
280g (10 oz) linguine pasta
5 cloves minced garlic
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp cornstarch (corn flour)
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp rice oil or vegetable oil (optional, for sautéing)
Instructions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Cook linguine according to package instructions (8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet or wok, heat oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add ground beef and cook until browned (5-6 minutes). Break up into small pieces.
Mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl until smooth.
Add the sauce to the beef mixture. Bring to a simmer, stirring until thickened (2-3 minutes).
Toss cooked linguine into the skillet and stir to coat evenly.
Season with black pepper and serve immediately.
Notes
Use brown rice noodles for a gluten-free version.
For extra umami, add 1 tsp sesame oil if available.
Skillet method minimizes cleanup.
